Termite Prevention

We have the best weather in the world, and the best beaches in the world, but this also means that our hot and humid climate for majority of the year makes for a perfect breeding ground for termites. They're destructive and can cause serious structural damage to our Brisbane homes.

This is why we take termite prevention so seriously!

So, here's our top 5 tips of termite prevention in Brisbane City.

  1. Have your Termite Pest Controller come out to conduct regular termite inspections

At Jenner Pest Control we always recommend for our clients to have a termite inspection completed on their Brisbane home every 12 months. This ensure we notice any signs of termite infestation before serious damage occurs. Why take necessary precautions for termite prevention? Well, not only does it avoid structural damage, it can avoid furniture damage too.

2. Minimise the amount of wood around the perimeter of your home.

3. Termite need moisture to thrive, so remove moisture in and around the home.

4. Routinely inspect your home for mud tubes which termites use to locate a food source, uneven or bubbling paint or wood that sounds hollow when tapped.

5. Store firewood at least 20m away from your home.

Why would you want to prevent termites?

Well, not only does it mean that your home won't crumble beneath your feet, but it also means the value of your property will be maintained, particularly if you're planning on selling your home in the near future.

Also, it's important to check your warranty. You may need proof that you have had a termite inspection completed every 12 months to ensure you're covered under your warranty.
